Just For Display….

A little more on the Jotus frosti that are living in the agapanthus clumps, there is quite a population with three males and several females having been sighted. One male in particular has been cooperative for the camera, here he is in his territory.

Two close up shots, click to enlarge.

On two occasions the male has been observed displaying to a nearby female, he lifts his front legs to a vertical position and flickers them very quickly, his pedipalps are also extended.

On this occasion the female was just up the leaf, but all his efforts were in vain, she was more interested in eating her recently caught meal.
