A room with a view.

Jul 19th, 2006 by Duncan

Haven’t had a thing to blog about lately, the weather’s been cold, gloomy, but thankfully, wet, plus I’ve been below par and a bit slack. Things brightened up today however, we were invited out to lunch, and enjoyed it looking out into the garden where the birds put on a wonderful show for us. Our hosts made sure of that by scattering some seed on the lawn, and Eastern and Crimson Rosellas, Rainbow Lorikeets, Galahs, Sulphur-crested Cockatoos, Bronzewing Pigeons, and Magpies turned up for the free feed.
The show actually started as soon as we got out of the car, the resident Noisy Miners started singing out, and we looked up to see an Australian Hobby whistle past overhead. Our friends live out of town on a treed road next to a golf course, and are surrounded by a wonderful assortment of birds which spend a lot of their time in the garden.
Great for bird photography, I sat on the carpet with the sliding door ajar, and clicked away to my heart’s content. Here are three I took, click on the images for larger versions. The rest will be going into a gallery soon, I’ll post the link when it’s ready.

Your garden birds are our pet store birds! What a delight to have such colorful birds visiting bird feeders. Only occasionally will I see a budgie or a cockatiel (escapees from captivity) at my bird feeders here in Arizona, USA, but I would love to have any kind of parrot as a regular visitor.

You would have had a ball watching these Beth, there were over twenty parrots and cockatoos feeding on the lawn for two hours. It was funny to watch some of the interaction between them.

Hello … I was just doing a bit of blog-hopping and was about to call it a night, then I thought, just one more, and here I am. I haven’t seen a site before with so many beautiful birds – magic – do you mind if I add a link to you? I have a site called turningsixty.com.au and am looking for links to special places and other australian bloggers and elderbloggers.

    Nice to meet you
    regards
    Della
