Appeal against the light.
Oct 24th, 2008 by Duncan
Sometimes when trying to take pictures of birds, or even look at them through binoculars, the light can be so poor that it’s hard to do any good at all. It was like that this afternoon, atrocious light, birds up in the trees, and me trying to get a picture or two. With nothing for a blog I had to have a go, and managed to get these two keepers. I’ve mentioned before about the Rainbow Lorikeets and Red Wattlebirds in the garden, well, the wattlebird is one of this year’s crop, the red wattles haven’t developed yet. At least it sat still for me, but the lorikeet only gave me one chance while it was clambering through the foliage.
Cricketers can appeal against the light, but birders just have to keep on batting.

That Lorikeet shot is a real splash of colour.
Light or no light its a great photo of the Red Wattlebird and especially interesting as its a juvenile.
they’re both wonderful photos, the lorikeet is so brightly coloured and its a great action shot you got of it.
You did well with both birds, Duncan. There’s a lovely softness to the colours.
G’day DF,
Beautiful. Great detail for low light.

Thanks everyone, I was quite pleased at how they turned out, conditions were not easy.
