Not a very original title I admit but it tells the story. We recently saw the first Diplacodes in the garden and now there are about half a dozen frequenting the shrubs at the front of the house. I spent some time with them yesterday, and although they are some of the easiest to approach and photograph, the 200 micro lens made it easier. The species is melanopsis, the Black-faced Percher that has been regular for the last few years, they are still teneral at the moment but one individual is starting to develop mature colour.
