The weather has cleared here after the best easterly rain for years, 33 mm in our rain gauge. The frogs are liking it too, went outside tonight to hear the rising whistling call of Verreaux’s Tree Frog, the click of the Spotted Grass Frog, and best of all, the “maniacal cackle” of Peron’s Tree Frog. The male bird builds a structure of seduction out of grass stems and suchlike, and decorates the area with baubles which are usually blue, or green if blue things are hard to come by. [...]
